More Butthole Surfer Tracks

First of all, BRAVO for putting this asshole away. I hope he gets to share a cell with the appropriate inmate. I know, I try not to get political here but this was the best news of the week.

In celebration, here are some more live, previously unknown tracks from the Butthole Surfers.

So, I was contacted by the Butthole Surfer's archivist and he wants a rip of the Columbus soundboard tape of which I posted a few tracks several weeks ago. He actually contacted me on the 20th anniversary of this show and didn't realize it until I pointed it out. We'll trade for a mix CD-R he is putting together from what I assume is a vast collection.

He sent me his 50 page listing of all the known shows available on tape. supposedly this is one of the few shows on tape that has Kramer playing bass (and trombone).

Here are some more tracks from that tape including a song which has Kramer on trombone.

If you know what the name of the song is, drop a line in the comments. I've asked the archivist if he knows and if I get an answer, I'll correct the track and repost.

4 Tracks from Butthole Surfers Show, Stache's, Columbus Ohio, 6-22-85
  • ??? (Mystery Track)
  • "Graveyard"
  • "To Parter"
  • "Tornado"
UPDATE: Tracks removed to get space on my server. If you want some of these tracks, drop me a line and an address to send them too.

Here's the set list to the best of my skills:

100 Million Dead (previously posted)
To Parter
Tornado
Cherub
graveyard
The Shah Sleeps
Butthole Surfers
Gary Floyd
Lady Sniff
Something
??? Mystery Track

You should post the complete shows to Archive.org. There are already 8 other Surfers shows there.

the mystery track is "whirling hall of knives" (as found on rembrandt pussy horse). it's kind of hard to tell since you can't really hear the guitar, but you do hear lots of lots of trombone (?!). thanks for posting these.

Gibby was one of the more entertaining aspects of The Flaming Lips doc, The Fearless Freaks.

tee! re: bees and cliff richard, although I'd add in lots of hardcore rap, I'm sure he detests that music. Escape: I must check out that doc - it's in my netflix queue and getting bumped up even as we speak. If you can check out the blind eyes sees all tape/DVD for more gibby madness. The DVD has a karoake option in case you want to have a good party game (also on Netflix, by the way).

Leonard The (that's how the Chinese would say your name - are you related to Bill Cosby?) - thanks I thought it was "whirling" but I haven't listened to that LP for so long & it does sound a bit different.

Ihtb: I'll consider the archives thing but I'm really busy just livin' life AND doin a blog or two. Maybe some snow day next winter. It's been sent to some guy who tells me he is the Butt's archivist.

Dane, I like the American Women cover - I have the original release of it which was a 5" plastic record that came with the Blind Eye Sees All video.
