Kingface redux

Several months ago we appreciated the contribution to the music world of the band known as Kingface and Mike Lupica from WFMU left some comments.

WFMU's Beware The Blog has a massive rememberance post by Mike today (apparently by popular request) with lotsa those new-fangled MP3s from a live off-the-board show in 1988 at the old 930 club.

Free & legal w/permission of the band. Yay! Now about that reunion tour...

P.S. Blogging from your parent's house with Verizon Wireless (they just have Plain Old Telephone Service out here in the boonies) is way cool.

I bought the Kingface EP in the late 80s on the strength of it being a Dischord release. I did the same with records by Beefeater, Gray Matter & Scream, being in England I hadn't heard any of them.

How would you describe Kingface? The cover gives nothing away. Clearly not hardcore punk or even punk, just an honest sounding rock band with very good songs. I suppose one song sounds like Dinosaur Jr.

It seems that first EP was not on Dischord after all, looking at my record I can't find any label. No doubt the "produced by ian mackae at inner ear studios" was the reason i bought it then.

The insert is like a dischord insert.
